Toddler found dead in vehicle on hot day

A Burbank toddler who died Friday
may have been left in a vehicle
parked outside his home, police
said.
The 1-year-old boy was found
unresponsive by his parents at 5:50
p.m. in the 4800 block of West 85th
Street, Burbank police said. He was
found in a vehicle parked in his
family's driveway and may have
been left unattended inside for an
unspecified period of time, police
said.
Ivan Villa was taken to Advocate
Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn,
where he was pronounced dead at
6:27 p.m., according to the Cook
County Medical Examiner's office.
A weather station at nearby Midway
Airport recorded a temperature of
91 degrees at 6 p.m., according to
the National Weather Service. The
heat index reading -- or how hot it
feels outside with humidity and air
temperature combined -- was 97
degrees.
Police did not say how long the
toddler may have been in the
vehicle.
The Department of Children and
Family Services and the Cook
County State's Attorney's office are
also reviewing the circumstances
surrounding his death, Burbank
police said.
An autopsy to determine the cause
and manner of his death is
scheduled for later Saturday.
