A man has appeared in court charged with
murdering a 15-year-old boy who was
fatally stabbed while riding his bike.
Joshua Williams, 18, of Davenant Road,
Holloway, north London, was remanded in
custody over the death of Alan Cartwright.
The youngster had been cycling along
Caledonian Road in Islington, north
London, when he was attacked on 27
February.
Williams appeared at Highbury Corner
Magistrates' Court and will appear next at
the Old Bailey on Tuesday. He is charged
with murder and conspiracy to rob.
An 18-year-old man arrested on Thursday
has been released on police bail to return
on a date in late April, pending further
inquiries.
A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man
who were both arrested in relation to the
incident have been bailed.
The schoolboy managed to continue riding
a short distance after he was stabbed, but
collapsed and was later pronounced dead
at the scene.
A post-mortem examination found that he
died from a single stab wound to the
chest.
