Firefighters Battle Industrial Blaze In Erith

Almost 100 firefighters have battled to
get a blaze inside a block of industrial
units under control.
The smoke and fire from the blaze in Erith,
South East London, could be seen from
miles away.
More than 50 people called emergency
services to report the fire, which
happened at around 2am in Yarnton Way.

A storage warehouse was completely
destroyed, and the blaze also affected two
adjacent units.
While no homes were affected, the London
Fire Brigade advised people living near the
scene to close their doors and windows
due to large volumes of smoke.
Station Manager Norman Perry said: "Fire
crews worked hard to bring this under
control.
The cause has yet to be determined.

"The blaze was in an industrial area and
we managed to stop it spreading to any
residential homes.
"We are likely to be at the scene
throughout the morning damping down
pockets of fire."
